There is, to me, serenity about still life paintings. The art of Chiaroscuro painting is both strong and quiet, as light and shadow hold both mystery and tranquility. My artistic journey takes me to the way light travels and falls. My quest is to capture the very essence of the spirit of light in order to move the viewer's eye softly through space and to contrast with shadows creating an illusion of strength and depth.
A story is told through painting. The process of collecting materials to be used in the still life painting and the placement of these items so that they interact with and compliment each other brings to life the creation of the story. A story which can only be understood by searching far beyond the obvious- it is truly eternal.
I don't believe that there are any correct rules of painting. You must lose the rigidity of formulas and rules in order to take the necessary risks to explore- to really see the beauty of it all.
